How to install dqMan Opentext Documentum Edition?

This article explains the installation procedure for dqMan Opentext Documentum Edition.

1. Prerequisites

dqMan is a native 64 bit application. Therefore, all software components and OS must be in 64 bit.

• Operation System
  All versions of Microsoft Windows x64 can be used
• DFC
  A Documentum DFC installation is needed. DFC is supported from 16.4 (please apply latest patch) up to the latest version 22.x
• Java
  A Java installation is needed. dqMan supports all x64 Java versions that are certified for the Documentum DFC. Please refer to the DFC release notes, which Java distribution/version can be used.
• Internet access
  To validate the license, each time a license key is inserted, an online validation is executed. Your computer needs access to the internet to contact https://dqman.com on port 443.

2. Installation

1. Create a directory for dqMan Opentext Documentum Edition on your computer. We suggest, not to place it in c:\program files, as there are sometimes restictions and policies on that folder that can prevent dqMan from running successfully.
   
   
2. Unzip alle files, including the subdirectories, into your directory.
   
   
3. You can create shortcuts for the dqman.exe file for the start menu, the taskbar or the desktop as you prefer. All command line paramters for dqMan Opentext Documentum Edition described in the manual are optional.
   
   
4. Now you can start dqMan.

NOTE: Please make sure to have your license key available, when you fist start dqMan Opentext Documentum Edition.

3. Troubleshooting

• Can't find profile.properties file
  Usually, dqMan Opentext Documentum Edition detects the DFC and Java installation automatically. But sometimes errors occur.
  In that case you recieve a message from dqMan that the profile file cannot be found.

• Class not found
  If you recieve a "Class not found" error sonmething has gone wrong with your dfc installation.
  Please make sure that the dfc is properly installed on your computer. Copying the dfc from anywhere else
  will not work.
